YB 李源益针对新邦瓜拉夜市小贩经营地段之声明
首先, 我必须针对日前有关新邦瓜拉夜市小贩商业公会的指责字正词严的作出澄清, 即:
(一)本人乃受部分新邦瓜拉夜市小贩之委托, 要求本人以该区民主行动党议员之身份, 着手处理及充当鲁仲连摆平夜市小贩每年所酝酿之派系纠纷人事风波, 进而让各族小贩能够获得公平对待, 和睦的在该地段营业.
(二)本人因此亦获得该地段地主之应允, 由本人及所成立之五人专案小组成员着手公平处理该区所有小贩之营业申请及进行一切准证申请工作, 同时亦已抽签方式进行摊格位置安排.
(三)本人与地主亦达致共识, 即该营业地段将以最优惠之价格出租于各小贩, 所有租金收入皆归地主所有, 并无涉及任何牟私利或徇私舞弊事件.截至今日, 市政厅尚未发出准证予任何一方以展开夜市经营; 而且包括租金等所有详情亦尚未拟定.
基于上述原因, 本人希望新邦瓜拉夜市小贩商业公会能够为以下几点作出澄清, 并公开对日前在报章上无凭无据的抨击本人及民主行动党之事作出合理解释并还于公道:-
(一)为何在没有获得任何证据之前, 新邦瓜拉夜市小贩商业公会竟然召开记者会指责本人”要与小贩抢饭碗”?
(二)该夜市计划一切筹备工作尚未完成, 执照尚未获得批准, 同时, 本人及所成立之五人专案小组还在寻求小贩们之意见以决定租金及摊位之安排, 在这种种步骤尚未拍板定案之前, 夜市小贩商业公会却已经急以召开记者会谴责本人及民主行动党, 居心何在?
(三)是谁在幕后指使?
本人欲强调, 本人及民主行动党绝对尊重各小贩之营业谋生权利, 同时亦问心无愧的基于摆平纠纷, 团结各小贩经营人为原则, 才毅然决定充当鲁仲连.
由于受到新邦瓜拉夜市小贩商业公会的毫无根据指责, 重重施压及羞辱, 本人及五人专案小组今决定不再处理此事项, 把所有决定权交由地主定夺. 本人及民主行动党只希望新邦瓜拉夜市小贩商业公会能够针对以上之三项问题给予我们合理解释, 还原真相, 以正视听!

Firstly, I would like to make a clarification on the problem statement made by Simpang Kuala night market hawkers association on 4th OCT 2008
(a)I was appointed by a few of the hawkers from Simpang Kuala night market as the local DAP representative to handle conflicts between different groups, as well as to create a peaceful and fair environment for all to conduct business.
(b)I had therefore setup a task force with 5 personnels to handle matters related to the night market business application, and arrangement of stalls through fair draw.
(c)The landlord and I had also obtained mutual agreement that the location will be leased at a reasonable price for the benefits of all hawkers. All rental income belongs to the landlord and there is no personal gain in this area. To date, both the formal approval and details have yet to be announced by the district office.
Due to the above reasons, I would like to seek clarification & reasonable justification from Simpang Kuala Night Market Hawkers Association on several statements posted in newspaper against DAP and myself:
(i)Why is there a press conference to pinpoint that I am messing up the livelihood of hawkers before obtaining any proof?
(ii)What are the motives behind for holding the press conference before any business license is obtained for the hawker center, and while the task force is still gathering information and hawkers’ opinion on stall rental and arrangement?
(iii)Who is the person behind this?
I would like to emphasize that DAP and myself have full respect to the hawkers, and have no qualms in handling conflicts and gaining co-operations from the hawkers in this role.
Due to the unrealistic accusation by the association, it has caused us unnecessary pressure and humiliation, therefore we have decided to pull out from the task force. All matters would be handled by the landlord going forward. Would appreciate a reasonable justification from the hawkers association on the 3 matters mentioned above.
